Solid 14k Franco, 3.7 mm by 24 inches, 47.70 grams. Lobster clasp.

Solid, not hollow. At these dimensions a hollow chain runs about a third of this weight, so the scale settles the question on its own.

Read the condition report before you buy. This chain was lengthened from an original 20 inch, and the stated weight is calculated from the original scale figure rather than reweighed. We have put the number on the low side deliberately, because the clasp is fixed mass and does not scale with length. Happy to weigh it in front of you before money moves.

This chain has been lengthened and is not a factory-original 24 inch chain. Three inches of link were added to the original chain, which weighed 41.85 grams. It now measures 24 inches end to end including the clasp — the way chain length is normally quoted — at 47.70 grams. The added links are the same solid 14 karat Franco link at the same 3.7 mm width, which is why the weight scales with the length: the chain carries the same grams per inch end to end and reads as continuous along its full length. We tell you it was lengthened rather than letting you discover it, because it is a material fact about the object. About the 47.70 grams, stated plainly: the original chain was weighed at 41.85 grams on a calibrated scale. The figure above is that measurement plus the added length calculated at the same grams per inch — the whole chain has not been back on a scale since the work was done. We have deliberately stated it on the low side, because a lobster clasp is fixed weight and does not scale with length, so the true figure is a fraction above this rather than below it. If you want it weighed in front of you before money moves, ask and we will do exactly that. Karat stamp intact.
