Appraisal, valuation and offer are three different things.

People ask us for an appraisal when they usually want one of two other things. The difference matters, because they produce very different numbers.

An insurance appraisal

A written replacement-value document for your insurer. It reflects what it would cost to replace the watch at retail, which is normally the highest of the three numbers. It is not what anyone will pay you. Insurance appraisals are produced by qualified appraisers for a fee.

A market valuation

An estimate of what the watch would realistically sell for between a willing buyer and seller today. This is closer to reality but still assumes you find that buyer and wait.

A purchase offer

What we provide, free. A specific amount we will actually pay for your specific watch, subject to authentication. It is lower than an insurance appraisal by design, because it is real money available now rather than a replacement cost.

Which one you need

Insuring it — get an appraisal. Curious what it is worth — a market valuation. Selling it — an offer. We give offers, not appraisals, and we will say so rather than dress an offer up as a valuation.
